Ambassador presents the Four Degree Map to Slovene Government (22/10/2009)
On Thursday 22 October the British Ambassador Andrew Page presented the 4 Degree Map to the State Secretary for Environment, Zoran Kus. The map illustrates some of the impacts that may occur if the global average temperature risies by 4 °C above the pre-industrial climate average.
Ambassador Page stressed the high vulnerability of every region due to higher global temperature. He said that if we fail to deliver a global agreement, climate change has potential to shift relationships between countries and it could lead to an increasingly isolationist and protectionist world. He furhtermore underscored that we cannot cope with a 4 °C rise. »We have the technology and the opportunity to stop this future but we must act now and reach an ambicious, fair and effective global agreement in Copenhagen«.
