Our Embassy in Slovenia
The mission of the British Embassy in Ljubljana is to protect and promote the interests of the United Kingdom in Slovenia and to develop bilateral relations. We do this by:
- Supporting various bilateral projects Helping British companies to increase their sales and investments in Slovenia
- Seeking to ensure the protection of British citizens visiting, or living, in Slovenia
- Supporting cultural links between the United Kingdom and Slovenia
- Promoting a positive image of the UK and encouraging support for its policies
The British Embassy in Ljubljana is responsible for managing the bilateral relationship between the UK and Slovenia in a variety of fields – political, defence and security, economic and commercial. The Embassy is also responsible for providing a range of consular and passport services to British citizens living in Slovenia and serves as a source of information about the UK for the Slovenian media and members of the public.
The Embassy works closely with the British Council Slovenia, which is responsible for the development of educational, scientific and cultural links between the two countries.
The British Ambassador is appointed by Her Majesty The Queen and has overall responsibility for the representation of British government policy in Slovenia. The Embassy has around 20 staff, one third of whom come from Britain and two thirds from Slovenia.
